Meanwhile the JQ35/JQ36 Melbourne - Denpasar rotation was cancelled due firstly to a pilot going sick, secondly due to the replacement pilot’s baggage, including his passport being misplaced an route from Sydney and the two delays combining to mean that the runway at Denpasar would be closed for repairs once the aircraft arrived.

JetStar Announces Melbourne – Singapore – Beijing Service.

12/07/2011

JetStar today announced that it will commence Melbourne - Singapore - Beijing services on 24th November 2011 using Airbus A330-200s. The announcement was made in Beijing with JetStar chief executive Bruce Buchanan and JetStar Asia chief executive Chong Phit Lian both present.

The flight is a continuation of the existing JQ7/JQ8 service and will operate:

JQ7 Melbourne 1200 - 1650 Singapore 1835 -Beijing 0050+1

JQ8 Beijing 0250 - 0930 Singapore 2050 -Melbourne 0655+1

The return flight has a twelve hour layover in Singapore making for a 25 hour 5 minute journey southbound as opposed to 15 hours 50 minutes northbound. This would appear to be an extremely strange piece of scheduling although the aircraft may operate another service from Singapore in the interim or be swapped out.

Services are at present shown as being operated by JetStar rather than JetStar Asia.
